Welcome from West's New Principal

Dear PV West Students and Families,

Welcome Back!  I hope all enjoyed a wonderful summer and are looking forward with enthusiasm to the new school year.  I’m very excited about welcoming our new and returning students as well as transitioning into my new leadership role.

First, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Donna Milligan, and I am Middle School West’s newly appointed principal.  I should be familiar to many of you as I have been West’s assistant principal for more than eight years; in addition, I may be even more familiar to some because I taught ninth- and twelfth-grade English at PVHS for more than twenty years.  (It is indeed true that some of West’s moms and dads were my students!)  During my tenure at our high school, I worked in many leadership positions:  department chairperson, secondary curriculum coordinator, Middle States coordinator, project/district initiative writer, and staff developer.  I was equally involved in Student Life, specifically the marching band, yearbook staff, QuizBowl team, etc.  You could say that teaching, involving, and enriching faculty, staff, and students has and always will be my life.  Therefore, it is truly an honor and a privilege to assume the lead principal role at Middle School West.  I have long been a dedicated member of this school community, a community that has always felt like family.

West’s faculty, staff, and front office team are pleased to include our students and parents/guardians as our partners in education.  As the year progresses, and as you become either more informed or more puzzled, we encourage you to call the school (484-977-7210) to speak with those who might be of assistance.  One of our front office secretaries will help you get in touch with the appropriate party/parties at any point during the school year.  Never hesitate to call or email.

One of our primary goals is to ensure that students and their parents/guardians are not only connected to but also feel at home at Middle School West.  To help accomplish this goal, Principal Reports are sent out electronically every Friday; these reports will provide you with information about school and extra-curricular events and activities.  Additional information can always be found on the school’s website, which we are adding to almost daily.  To get started, you may wish to acquaint yourself with the Student Handbook, our Contact page, and the Home Access Center.

Another primary goal is to provide all students with the opportunity to excel in academics, all special areas, and intramurals/athletics so that they may become well-rounded, positive, healthy, contributing members of our micro- and macro-communities.  To this end, we want to assure you that we will do our very best to help your child experience academic, social, and emotional growth.  With your help and support, I am certain that this will prove to be an excellent school year.

In anticipation of our students’ return -- warmest regards,

Donna Milligan, Principal, PVMS West
