from PVMS West Home and School:                                                                                                                        We will be running our third and final Box Tops contest of the school year. It’s simple; just clip Box Tops off specially marked products and send them in with your student in an envelope or baggie marked with your homeroom teacher’s name.  Each homeroom teacher has a container in his/her classroom to put the Box Tops in. The homeroom class that collects the most Box Tops during the month of April will take a vote and receive a $25.00 gift card for their classroom OR a Philly Soft Pretzel party.  Please send in your Box Tops! Every one counts! They are due by Monday, April 30th to be included in the contest.

If you would like to help our school out even more, please register online at http://www.boxtops4education.com/.  You can find additional sweepstakes to enter for our school, check on our school earnings, and print coupons.  Thank you for your continued support! Questions can be directed to Karen Litak at thelitaks@gmail.com.

from the Counseling Center:

Counseling Survey for Middle School West Parents – Please consider taking the linked survey; it is intended to assist our counselors in making improvements to our counseling program.

Dr. Leigh Serra Presents - Raising Resilient Kids:  How to Foster a Growth Mindset in Young Children – April 30th, Middle School East Library, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Update, re:  Class of 2022 Mixer – The high school’s Link Crew has invited MS East and MS West eighth-grade students to the Class of 2022 Mixer at the high school. Free of charge!  Events will include: a clubs and fall sports expo, guided tours of the high school, and a Hawaiian-themed dance.

Attendance/Absences – If you know your child will be absent from school, please be sure to contact Mrs. Brenda Continelli, our counseling secretary, at bcontinelli@pvsd.org or by calling our office at 484-977-7210.  Also, please remember to send in excuse notes, detailing the date of the absence, reason for the absence, and a parent signature, within three days of the absence(s).  For more information, please click on Attendance Guidelines under the Parents tab.  At MS West, Student Attendance Improvement Plans are initiated by district-adopted attendance letters and implemented by our social worker, a counselor, and/or an administrator in conjunction with a parent(s).

from the Nurse’s office:

Parents of 6th grade students: Physical examinations are required for every 6th grade student.  If you have not already done so, please be sure to send in a physical form for your child.  The school physician will be here in the spring, and your child will be seen by the school physician unless a form has been sent in.  Forms can be found on the PV Website under Parents/Forms. Also, 6th grade students are required to have the Tdap and Menactra vaccinations prior to the start of 7th grade.  These vaccinations can be obtained during the physical examination by your physician. Please be advised that your child will be excluded from school if these vaccinations are not given prior to the first day of school.   If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Lind.

Important reminder: If your child is sick or injured in school, please remind him/her to go to the nurse and refrain from calling or texting you directly.  If a student calls or texts during the school day to be picked up by a parent and is not seen by the nurse, the early dismissal will be unexcused.  Please remind your child to go to the nurse if he/she is sick or injured in any way.

Important Dates:

4/21 - Green Team's Earth Day 5K

4/23-24 – Science PSSA (grade 8)

Have a wonderful weekend!
