Dear PVMS West Families,

I hope this email finds you doing well.  Please see both news and informational items listed below.

New News:

Jazz Band Competition – The PVMS West Jazz Band would like to thank the West Community for attending Friday evening’s competition.

Kudos to Hansen S.! - In February, Hansen competed in PJAS (PA Junior Academy of Science) Fair and earned himself a second place finish!  Last week, Hansen participated in the MCSRC (Montgomery County Science Research Competition). Although he did not place, we commend him for presenting an impressive engineering project that explored alternative materials associated with air conditioning cars.  Special thanks to Mr. David Patterson, who served as Hansen’s mentor.

Best Wishes to West’s GeoStars – On Friday, March 29, 2019, Ella W., Elle D., Maddie G., Hope B., Raina S., and Liana L. competed in Harrisburg where they presented their GeoChallenge project on tackling plastic.  They were selected by National Geographic in January based on the quality of their physical map and solution video as well as their goal to reduce single-use plastics. The Geostars have a chance to win a trip to compete nationally in Washington, D.C. in June.  Special thanks to Ms. Emers, who served as the GeoStars’ mentor. More to news to follow…

Student-Faculty Basketball Game, a Long-standing West Tradition – West Madness reached a crescendo of excitement Friday afternoon in our gymnasium.  Our teachers, the underdogs going into the game, played against our incredibly talented, eighth-grade boys and girls.  The teacher team prevailed this year, winning 57-31. Special thanks to all who participated and entertained the full-house crowd!

MCIU Reading Olympics (Elementary) – The MCIU expressed both appreciation and thanks to our faculty, staff, and ROLA Club for graciously hosting the Elementary Reading Olympics Competition at MS West on 3/26/19.

from Home and School – As we move into spring, it's time to start thinking about Home & School elections.  Every year, we elect four new board members to help shape and execute what the Home & School does the following year.  If you are interested in being on the H&S board for the 2019-20 school year, please contact Amy Butler at amyjpowers@hotmail.com.
