Mrs. Milligan
Dear PVMS West Families,

I hope this email finds you doing well.  A reminder to all that electronic report cards opened today at noon. (Vector four also ended today.)  Please review the informational items below for upcoming events and news to know.

Spring Holiday - April 17 (a full in-service day) through April 22nd.  School resumes and PSSA testing begins on April 23rd.

New News:

Congratulations to the East/West Combined Orchestra!  Students from both schools performed in exhibition on Monday, April 8th.  We are very proud of our student musicians and our growing program.  Thank you for sharing your talents and entertaining the school community!

We are eagerly looking forward to our spring concert series:

HS Jazz Band at MS West, April 26, 2019;

MS West Band, May 6, 2019;

MS Choir, May 9, 2019;

Talent Showcase and Art Show, May 20, 2019; and

MS Orchestra, May 22, 2019

Please join us as we celebrate the very best of the arts!

West executed its first Run/Hide Drill on Thursday, April 11th.  Brief discussions occurred in every classroom over the course of a week, and a given scenario prompted teachers to make a quick decision and issue a run (walking with purpose) or hide directive to their classes.  Upon concluding the exercise, which our students performed both seriously and well, we fulfilled our monthly fire drill. School community feedback was collected, and the safety committee will review this information to continue planning/revising our safety plan(s).

from Home and School –  PV West Home & School will be running its third and final Box Tops contest of the school year. It’s simple - just clip Box Tops off specially marked products and send them in with your student in an envelope or baggie marked with your homeroom teacher’s name.  Each homeroom teacher has a container in their classroom to put the Box Tops in. The homeroom class that collects the most Box Tops will receive a Philly soft pretzel party. So please send in your Box Tops! Every one counts! Since September we received $538.30. All Box Tops are due by Friday, May 3rd to be included in the contest. Click here to see the Box Tops flyer.

If you would like to help our school out even more, please register online at http://www.boxtops4education.com/. You can find additional sweepstakes to enter for our school, check on our school earnings and print coupons.

Finally, Home and School is searching for a new Box Tops coordinator for the 2019-2020 school year. If you are interested, please contact Karen Litak at thelitaks@gmail.com.  Thank you for your continued support!!

As we move into spring, it's time to start thinking about Home & School elections.  Every year, we elect four new board members to help shape and execute what the Home & School does the following year.  If you are interested in being on the H&S board for the 2019-20 school year, please contact Amy Butler at amyjpowers@hotmail.com.
